​Welcome to First Baptist Church! Thank you for your interest in our church. We have been worshiping together in Mason City since 1857. Whatever reason has brought you to worship with us, we welcome you. At First Baptist, we operate as a family and invite you to be a part of that family.

We believe that the gospel is central in all of Christian life. The gospel is simply that all of humanity is under sin. We have broken God’s law. God is just and must judge sinners. Since we cannot save ourselves or make ourselves good before God, God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to earth. Jesus lived a perfect life. He never sinned once. Yet he was put to death. His death paid the penalty for our sin. God has made a promise that if we trust in his promise then he will forgive our sin and count it paid for in Jesus’ death. The Bible tells us, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16, ESV). For those who will not accept Jesus, there awaits only God’s judgment.

This gospel teaches us just how much we need God. We cannot go it alone. We need him and we need each other. That is what the church is all about. We come together to worship God and serve one another. God hasn’t made us to live our lives alone, but with each other. Won’t you consider joining us as we come together to worship God and serve one another?
